America’s Best New Year’s Destinations

Fireworks Gone Bad
A large firework exploding in the street

You may have already switched that calendar to 2012 but that doesn’t mean your New Year’s Eve planning is over. It’s never too soon to start planning for next year to avoid that dreaded week. You know, the week before New Year’s Eve when everyone starts asking the same question: “What are your New Year’s Eve plans?!?” The answer is undoubtedly, “I have NO idea!” all the way up until December 31st. Unless your buddy is throwing an incredible house party, what in the world are you and your friends going to do? You bought the sequins and the best champagne, but you don’t have a clue where you’ll be at midnight. Chances are you’ll head to a club last minute, pay a $75 entry fee, and fight your way through the crowds to reach the bar, where you will buy the strongest drink they offer. Make that two of the strongest drinks they offer, since you probably won’t find the bar again for several hours.

Don’t go through that last minute, stressful party planning. Get a jump start and book a trip to one of the following New Year’s hot spots:

  1. New York. The iconic New Year’s destination because it’s the first place to ring in the New Year! Haven’t you always wanted to be one of those crazy east coasters, decked out in glitter, wrapped in fur coats, celebratory bottles in hand, anxiously waiting for that big ball to drop in Times Square at the strike of 12? Well, do it! You can easily find a Travelocity promo code for New York at Book a flight and make that dream come true! Now is the time. It’s up to you, New York, New Yooooork!
  2. Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas! The city of sin is the perfect place to ring in the New Year. Clubs, dancing, shows, gambling, and endless cocktails… sounds like a recipe for a successful New Year’s Eve party. Vegas is an adult playground year-round, but on New Year’s Eve, it’s taken to the next level. If you have the energy, this bright light city will set your soul on fire!
  3. Pasadena. For a much calmer and more traditional New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day experience, I recommend Pasadena, California. Pasadena is home to the annual Rose Parade, which has been going on for 123 years. The night before the parade, you can admire the intricately decorated, beautiful floats, which are lined up on Orange Grove for the morning parade. Brave visitors often camp out on Orange Grove on December 31st, waking up early to watch the parade “in bed.” It’s fun to wander up and down the streets to mingle with the families camped out. After enjoying the parade, sports fans head to the Rose Bowl for the New Year’s Day football tailgate and/or game. Between the parade and the game, you are bound to have a great time in Pasadena for New Year’s.

Try something new and exciting next New Year’s. Spice up your life in Las Vegas, join the east coast crew in Times Square, or go the traditional route in Pasadena! Instead of answering, “I have NO idea!” to that dreaded NYE question, you will finally have a definitive response. And it’s never too early to start booking, especially when you’re trying to stick to that New Year’s Resolution of staying on a budget!
