Mandalay Bay Beach & Pool Review, Las Vegas

Mandalay Bay Beach & Wave Pool
Body surfing in the wave pool

When choosing your hotel in Las Vegas during the summer months, the pool often times becomes an important factor. The Mandalay Bay Beach and pool is nice; it's well rounded, but not the best around. Depending on what type of pool scene you're looking for, the Mandalay Bay pool is hit or miss. It's got a lazy river, a wave pool, a sand beach, a couple bars, a casino overlooking the pool, a wading pool, and a couple other smaller pools around the outside. If you're looking for a party scene, the Mandalay Bay pool is not so crazy, but it is what you make of it, you can certainly get your drink on and have fun. Cabanas are available, but probably not worth it.

Mumbles Mile Pub Crawl Is Dead – Swansea, Wales

The Park Inn of Mumbles - Swansea, Wales
Our favorite pub of the pub crawl, The Park Inn

There's a small town called Mumbles on the coast of Wales, located near Swansea, the second largest city in the country. This stretch of coast has 1 main road running through it about a mile long; this road was once one of the most heavily concentrated pub areas in the world, home to well over 20, hence the name Mumbles Mile. For those of you who know of the show Three Sheets, I learned of this town and pub crawl from the Wales episode. For those of you who don’t, you're welcome; click the link and watch some of the episodes, its a great show about different cultures and their drinking customs.

How To Get From The U.S. To Cuba

A neon map showing the bus routes of Cuba at Havana Bus Station

If you’re a US resident trying to get to Cuba before it loses its communist charm, and you aren’t fortunate enough to have a visa approved by the US government, it still is relatively easy to get there. It is illegal and there are consequences if you get caught, but I don’t think catching tourists coming back from Cuba is high on a US Customs Agents list of things to bust people for. The general routes you can take are from the US to Mexico or the Bahamas, and then take a connecting flight to Havana. I went through Cancun, Mexico, so that is what my advice is based on.

Good Beaches In Morocco?

The Beach In Tangier, Morocco
A view of the beach in Tangier, Morocco

Morocco is not known for their beaches, however they do have beaches which will exceed your expectations. The beach in Tangier, although located near a port, was actually better than expected. Not world class, but better than you'd expect, and better than people may tell you. Head further south to Agadir and you'll find a beach which is quite nice, and has waves you can surf. If you're coming from Spain, don't expect the same type of beach culture you've grown accustomed to. You won't find any scantily clad sunbathers, or vendors walking the beach selling "La cerveza, la fanta, y el agua"; Morocco is a Muslim country with Muslim beaches. What you will find is sun, sand, and warm waters.

Bug Bites In Morocco Tip

Bug Bites In Morocco
Bug Bites on the arm of a traveler in Morocco

Not going to claim that everyone will be attacked so badly by the mosquitos in Morocco, but on a recent trip I found myself with bug bites all over my body. My friend seemed to be fine, but in 1 week I accumulated more than 70 bug bites in clumps all over my arms, hands, feet, legs, and even face, anything exposed. Just a warning to those susceptible to bug bites, might want to consider bringing some mosquito repellant on your next trip to Morocco.

Photos & Things To Do In Olympos, Turkey

View From The Citadel In Olympos, Turkey
A short hike up the mountain to the Citadel in Olympos provides this view of the beach

Olympos, Turkey, just outside of Antalya, is the perfect place to visit for a backpacker. Stay in a tree house at Kadirs, meals are included in the cost of your stay. Relax at the beach, explore the ruins, hike, kayak, rock climb, go cliff jumping, scuba diving, go canyoning, see the Chimera Flame, mountain bike, go out on a boat, or play volleyball. Olympos is a vacation spot, so everyone is social, it's easy to make new friends from Turkey or anywhere else in the world.
