Zhangjiajie National Forest, China
Zhangjiajie National Forest in China inspired the floating mountains of Pandora

The movie Avatar smashed all sorts of box office records, and set the bar for all future 3D films. Pandora, the planet in Avatar, got people dreaming of a better world, but if you look around you'll see that a lot of places here on earth actually inspired this Pandora environment. I know it's a bit geeky, but this article is a collection nature photos which I found to be Pandora-like, or out of this world, or just really cool.

Photos Of The Ancient City Of Petra

The Monastery Petra
The Monastery hidden deep in the mountains of Petra

One of my favorite places I've been to in all my travels has to be The Ancient City of Petra in Jordan. Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a New 7 Wonder of the World, so there are plenty of resources for you to get detailed information about it. BBC calls Petra a top 40 must see place before you die, and UNESCO says it's "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage". These are very bold statements, and I agree with both wholeheartedly.

The Beach From The Beach
The beach from the movie "The Beach", on Koh Phi Phi in Thailand

Q. Hey me and Chris are trying to plan our honeymoon. Have you ever been to Phuket or Thailand? Let me know, or if you have other recommendations?? Somewhere exotic and tropical, but things/excursions to do with good food and drinks!

Best Way To See The Pyramids of Giza

Pyramids Of Giza
Horses stopped in front of the world famous pyramids of Giza

The best way to see the Pyramids of Giza in detail is by horse. On foot it takes forever to get around the massive area, plus it's extremely hot. Camels are probably the most uncomfortable animal in the world to ride, I don't know how people cross the desert on them. So we're left with dirt bikes, or horses... good luck renting a dirt bike in Giza.

What To Do In Bohol, Philippines – Loboc River Cruise

Posing With Ati Tribe Spitting Fire
My friend posing with the Ati Tribesman for a photo as they spit fire

When traveling through the Philippines, we found ourselves in Cebu for 2 days, waiting for a flight to the island of Siargao. We didn't really know what we wanted to do, and in doing a little research discovered the island of Bohol, just a couple hours away from Cebu by ferry. The island, pronounced very similar to "Butthole", is best known for the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. When we arrived, we decided to rent scooters and explore the island that way. One of our destinations, a lazy 45 minute scooter ride away from our resort in the Mactan Island area of Bohol, was the Loboc River.

A long boat going past a fishermans cave in Koh Phi Phi

Q. Couple questions... Right now we are just going to be on the west side of the islands in thailand. Do you recall it being easy to get to side to side? If so i really want to go to KohPhi Phi. We are going to get certified to dive in koh tao. Do you recommend that or should we do it in Koh Phi Phi?

Chungking Mansions, Hong Kong

Busy Hong Kong
The busy streets of Hong Kong

"You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" (Star Wars) than the Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong. I'd seen the film “Chungking Express” years prior and thought maybe the Chungking Mansions had an allure of charm, a sense of the city, a multicultural Mecca utopia perhaps? The first floor is all cell phone charging stands and ethnic food I couldn't place. We’d first arrived at the “mansion” after a long flight past maybe 2am, all we wanted was to sleep. Finding our “hotel” or “hostel” took what I remember feeling like hours. The mansion is basically a rubex cube of a building; eventually we ran into other backpackers and followed their lead. I remember going through steam rooms, being stopped by locked, fenced dead ends, closed hallways, and small claustrophobic rooms until finding our way to our part of the hive. Finally we found our floor. I remember thinking “I could never find my way back here, and in I fire I could never find my way out, I’m going to die in here”. The mansion is mostly interior the rooms and different business operate internally, meaning that most of the space in the building have no access to the outside, no windows, no exit doors. You’re in a box, in a box, in a box.

Amsterdam Red Light District
A typical night on the streets of the Red Light District

Aside from the legalized or decriminalized or whatever, you can get pot there, aspect of Amsterdam it’s an incredibly beautiful, picturesque city. Stripped by canals, bridges, and great architecture the city could easily stand on it’s own if pot and prostitution weren’t legal. Now that you know there is more to the city than pot and prostitution, let’s get to what you want to know about Amsterdam... pot and prostitution.
