The tallest Twin Towers in the world - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur is one of the biggest airline hubs in SE Asia, so if you're travelling through the area for any extended period of time, you're likely to pass through it. KL is not the most exciting city in the world, but it's worth checking out, and 2 of it's most popular landmarks happen to be towers. The famous Petronas Towers (AKA Twin Towers) and the less fancy Kuala Lumpur Tower sit less than a mile apart in the center of the city.

Blarney Castle, Ireland, the real life Tir Asleen
If you want to feel like Madmartigan entering Tir Asleen for the first time, minus the disappointment, then Blarney Castle, in Blarney, Ireland is the place for you. This isn't a pristine, restored castle, or a château pretending to be a castle, this is the real deal. This castle has fortified stone walls, lookout towers, creepy caves and most important of all, a magical relic, the Blarney Stone.

A view of St. Canice’s Cathedral and the Round Tower in Kilkenny, Ireland
St. Canice’s Cathedral and the 9th century Round Tower are near the center of town in Kilkenny, Ireland. While not justifying more than an few hour visit, unless you plan to attend mass, the Gothic Cathedral and Round Tower are very impressive and create an atmosphere of antiquity. There is no charge to look around the property; a cemetery that feels more like a park. I am sure stopping by the area at night would give you an entirely different feeling.

The beach in Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise in the Gold Coast of Australia is a city for tourists. Comprised of mostly bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, and apartments, the city caters to all types of travelers. If you plan on visiting around November / December, know that the city tends to be taken over by schoolies - students on break who party non stop. This may not be the best time to visit if thats not what you're looking for, however, for some of you maybe it is?

Tough to fit the entire thing in a photograph, the Cathedral of Sevilla
The Cathedral of Sevilla (or Seville) is the largest gothic building in the world, and third largest church in the world. It’s impressive from the outside, but you can’t really get a good feel for its magnitude until you see the inside. The 16th century cathedral was built on top of a former mosque, giving it a unique style. One of the highlights of Sevilla, do not miss it.
